The Pink Channel is the world’s first channel for the cure of all cancers that affect women—supporting life-saving research and treatment at City of Hope. It is broadcast on XM Satellite Radio Channel 24.

Ars Datum used DotNetNuke to design and develop a full-featured content management system (CMS) that could be used by non-technical staff to regularly update content on the associated web site. Ars Datum also created a "Ticker of Hope" module that allows site visitors to make dedications on behalf of loved ones who are dealing with cancer.

Total Traffic is the road traffic reporting arm of Clear Channel Communications. Clear Channel hired Ars Datum to build a national traffic reporting database for on-air use in all major markets. We developed a secure, fault-tolerant web-based application to manage the thousands of traffic incidents that occur daily across the country, customizable to local markets and to specific needs of individual on-air talent. This system also provides geo-coded data to in-car navigation systems in vehicles made by BMW, Jaguar, Volvo, Mazda and personal navigation devices Garmin, TomTom, as well as maps used on hundreds of web sites across the internet.

We have also created Business Intelligence tools to mine the enormous volumes of historical traffic data we've accumulated over the years.

The traffic data generated by our applicaiton is also distributed as XML data and used extensively by third parties. Look around and you'll find our traffic data popping up in all kinds of interesting places.

Fox Television

For its newly launched myFox TV websites, Fox wanted to provide real time highway traffic maps in every major US market. Ars Datum built a custom "traffic player" to provide this functionality. Traffic incidents, flow, road construction and events are geocoded and plotted dynamically to a scrollable map. Additionally, the application maps and streams real-time images and video from traffic cameras in each market. This project demonstrates our technical experience with the google mapping API, AJAX and XML.

We also created a custom ad system that allows advertisers to sponsor a traffic map by displaying their locations. To date, McDonalds, Acura, Little Caesar's and State Farm have participated in these campaigns.

Their product line up consists of a mix of generic rack components and custom mounting hardware for most vehicles sold in the US. Because configuring a rack system to a particular vehicle can be a confusing experience, Yakima wanted to create an online catalog that had the intelligence to guide their customer to the appropriate parts list. Additionally, as Yakima is constantly updating their mounting hardware to match new vehicle specifications, they wanted to streamline the addition of new components to their website. Ars Datum created a completely customized content management system that allows non-technical marketing staff to easily push new products to their public website from their internal parts database. This project demonstrates our ability to integrate with internal and legacy databases, dynamic Flash components via XML data feeds, and provide comprehensive solutions tailored to a client's custom needs.

Premiere Radio Networks is the programming division of Clear Channel Communications, the largest radio broadcaster in the country. Premiere had an audio library of over 10,000 interviews on a variety of media (DAT, MiniDisc, CD, reel-to-reel) distributed across two offices in NYC and Los Angeles. Transcribing, logging and indexing these interviews was a nightmare. Physical media needed to be duplicated and shipped across the country, was frequently lost or misfiled, and was difficult to search. Ars Datum delivered a comprehensive solution to digitize the entire library, make it searchable by artist, subject and keywords, and even allow extraction of only the relevant segments of an interview. Production staff on both coasts now has immediate access to the entire terabyte library at their finger tips.

Premiere hired Ars Datum to automate the distribution of their 70 audio programs and morning prep materials, which were being distributed via fax, mailed CDs and satellite broadcast to their 7,800 affiliates. We delivered a comprehensive extranet to distribute their content via mp3, email and secured web pages. The benefits to Premiere include exponentially lower costs, faster turnaround on fully produced audio and text services, a fully searchable library, and comprehensive auditing and reporting on the usage of each service. Premiere is very pleased with the application and has used it as their primary distribution mechanism for all audio services since 2001. References available upon request.

Internal inventory tracking system (intranet only)

D6, a major Southern California based sportsware distributor, had outgrown its custom inventory tracking system and desperately needed an upgrade to address performance and usability issues. However, their old application performed certain tasks very well, and D6 wanted to maintain their existing data and workflow structures. They needed experienced developers who could "look under the hood" of their existing system and figure out how to build a more robust system based on the existing foundation. Ars Datum migrated their existing system to an MS SQL relational database that was able to pull data from their existing data stores. We developed stored procedures to bypass their existing software and use the relational database instead, vastly increasing search performance and end user productivity. We also created a highly sophisticated -- yet very simple to use -- sales tool which auto-generates PDF brochures overnight. These PDF brochures include full color photos, pricing, sizing and current inventory levels. Sales staff no longer wastes hours every day generating customer quotes -- they simply pick them up in the morning and e-mail them to their leads. We regret that our application eliminated three full time positions formerly dedicated to the generation of these sales materials, but are happy to report that all three have new jobs at D6!
